The Athena Hercules AP-MPS3ATX40 is a basic power supply compatible with specific Dell Tower computers. This 400 Watt power supply is designed for Tower systems (Vertical) and is NOT a replacement for the small proprietary power supplies for Dell desktop (Horizontal) systems.

Micro PS3 ATX Form Factor
The AP-MPS3ATX40 is specifically designed for Dell systems. The form factor is Micro PS3 ATX, which is the same height and width of a normal PS2 ATX power supply, however the depth is more shallow and the connectors, pins and voltage are different. There is also no power switch on the AP-MPS3ATX40 as the branded computers control power on/off through system software.

Dell 16 or Dell X cable may be required for some Dell systems
This 400 watt power supply will work with most Dell Tower systems, and many HP, Compaq, E-Machines, Gateway, Sony and IBM Tower computers. Some Dell systems will require the Dell 16 or Dell X cable. The AP-MPS3ATX40 supports 20 pin or 24 pin ATX v2.2 motherboards. The motherboard connector is designed to work with both, meaning the last 4 pins of the 24 pin connector pop off for 20 pin motherboards. This sometimes confuses customers as they think they received the wrong power supply.

Video connectors (PCI Express, HP)
The AP-MPS3ATX40 also has a PCI Express 6 pin connector (to provide power to a PCI Express VGA card) and a 4 pin connector specifically for HP Video connections.
