The Acer TravelMate TM5744-6444 LX.V5M03.015 Notebook PC

This laptop has all the features an average user needs to for work and play. What I mean by that is that the notebook has a strong feature set, does not go overboard, and is very affordable.  For a typical user, it has everything you need.  Here is what I like about it:

It has a full size keyboard with a number keypad
If you use your computer to work, pay bills, update spreadsheets, etc… your fingers will thank you!  The 15.6” LCD format is wider than 15” LCD’s of years past, and that allows for a wider keyboard. 

This laptop has an Intel Core i5 processor
This system is not using some closeout processors from 2 years ago.. It is using a current processor:  i5-480M 2.66GHz

4GB of DDR3 Memory
This is the short term memory for the computer.  4GB is needed to run Windows 7 and still give you enough room to run applications and multimedia. Don’t settle for less than 4GB, regardless of the cost savings. 

320GB Hard Drive
Hard drive space is crucial when your laptop if your main computer.  It isn’t that hard to fill up smaller hard drives one you load up your music, pictures and a couple videos.  320GB will give you enough space to keep loading and working for quite awhile. 

DVD-RW drive
This is the CD drive, but it also reads DVD’s.  You can make CD’s and DVD’s too. 

Windows 7 Professional 64
Again, this is the latest at this time.  Windows 7 is a big improvement over some past operating systems.  I have been very happy with it and it has made networking my home systems a lot easier.  Even someone who is not as familiar with computers will be able to use Windows 7 with little issue.  This model comes with Professional 64 bit installed, so there are extra features for business users. 

It has all the standard connections you would expect
There are 3 USB ports, a VGA port to connect to an external monitor or projector.  There is an Audio Out, Line in and Microphone jack.  It has the latest Wi-Fi spec: b/g/n, and 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN. 

The battery is pretty typical, a 6-Cell battery which will last up to 4 hours. 

There is a Kensington Security Lock slot, which enables you to basically chain the computer to a desk so it doesn’t get ripped off while you are grabbing a cup of coffee. 

All in all this is a pretty solid machine.  There is very limited inventory available and all sales are final. 

There is a One Year Limited Warranty provided by the manufacturer.
